Parent Project:

"PARENT PROJECT" is a non-profit organization that is run by parents of children diagnosed with Duchenne (DMD) and Becker (BMD) Muscular Dystrophy. It was founded in the USA in 1994 and in 2001 an organization was started in the Czech Republic.


  • Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy mission and objectives is to give out information to parents and the public about DMD-related research, treatment and care options.

  • We work closely with the Pediatric Neurology Clinic in Brno. Our goal is to create a database of patients that will enable them to take part in clinical studies worldwide.

  • We are funded by private organizations. These funds enable us to reach our goals and pursue the objectives of our organization.

  • We promote public awareness of Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy and we are affiliated with other Parent Project organizations abroad. (Australia, USA).

  • We organize annual meetings for parents and their children for the purpose of exchanging experiences and information regarding the care of their children.

  • We promote the integration of patients to pre-school and school facilities.

Mission of Parent Project organization:

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy mission is to improve the treatment, quality of life and long-term outlook for all individuals affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) through research, advocacy, education and compassion.
